I was browsing craigslist last night looking around...seeing what people are selling. I came across a listing for a guy who was selling 120 old Nintendo games for $200 dollars. So I emailed him and got his phone number and called. We negotiated and I talked him into $80 for all of them.

The problem is I don't $80 dollars worth of fluid capital, so the call was mearly an exercise in my bargaining skills. SO!!! if I would have been able to buy them what then. EBAY!!!

Ten games $15.50. Now I'll be realistic say I'd get a dollar apiece for them. $120 dollars. Ebay and paypal like to eat away a chunk of that with fees. but thats what increased shipping is for, to even it all out!!! So I would have net $40ish.

$40 doesent seem like a whole lot, but what if I did this just 4 times a week. Thats $8320 in clean untaxed, untracable money. Now imagine 50, 60, 70 items a week being sold :)

If you don't believe in the insane amount of money you can make doing this kind of wheel and dealing, I'll point to my sister Aamie. She made me shake my head last week when she sold something for $210 which she maybe...maybe had invested $2.00 in!!!

When I was a lad...say 12ish I guess...my father managed a small company that made fiber glass truck bodies. In this line of work it took him all over the country setting up booths at trade shows and state fairs to promote the product. It was at one of these shows my dad walked by a booth and saw an item tucked towards the back that was selling for a dollar. He went through hell and back trying to locate the oriental maker of this item and he created a home business out of it. First year - well over 100k.

The reason I bring this up is not just to compliment my father for being the smartest man I've ever met! but to pass along something he said to me onetime...

I told him how awesome it was going to a huge outdoor concert with fifty thousand people going nuts and asked him how he liked big crowds. He told me that when he sees big crowds like that he asks himself one question...

"What could I sell everyone of these people for a dollar."

What could you indeed. Thank you for the inspiration dad. Love you.

So I just moved to Enid, Oklahoma. A week before I moved I called the cable company down here to get it set up so that the internet and cable would be ready for my epic arrival. I was told I couldn't do that because someone was living in the townhouse and had cable in their name.

No problem, I'll wait!!!

So I get down here and call them again. They inform me that when this gentleman moved he didnt have his service shut off??? But I was told I could use his until the first of the month.

He didnt pay his bill and it got shut off for nonpayment. So I had to wait until the originally scheduled shut off date. Nine days without internet. Annoying!!!!

But that being said lets get an update on how I'm doing.

The problems...I need a checking account or a CC to activate a sellers account. I need a minimum of usually fifty dollars for a checking account and I'm a little short on that kind of fluid cash at the moment...

Probably have to sell my wii to get a small ammount of cash going. Craigslist here I come!!!

The monetary value placed on things confuses me. Earlier today I ran through a Mcdonalds drive thru to grab a quick bite. I ordered two Mcdoubles and an extra large Vanilla Ice Coffee. Thinking this was a sensible order at four dollars and nineteen cents, I began to think about what i could have gotten for the same price. As I began to mull it over in my mind, I upset myself.

For example:

Four dollars and nineteen cents could have bought me:

- Forty-one packages of ramen noodles. (although it may seem bland, that is alot of food)

- Three packages of hot dogs and package of buns. (once again a ton of food)

- Two large boxes of generic tea bags. (I love iced tea and by my estimate thats about 23-24 gallons)

- Three or four nice T-Shirts from a thrift store.

- Sixteen!!!!! twenty five cent paperbacks from the same place.

So as a society we place the value of two cheesburgers and a drink on par with the hearts and souls of sixteen individuals. CRAZY!!!!

A couple quick updates for the fund. I've set up a paypal account and I've added online advertising to my blog. I also found twenty-eight more cents in the couch of doom (as per the rules I get fourteen of it). Later today I plan on setting up an Ebay account and maybe see if I can Craigslist a couple of things. I also have some virtual items I may be able to generate a little revenue from.

RULES, RULES, RULES!!!!!

Every game has rules. Mine is no exception. Listed below are the rules I've laid out for myself for this experiment:

1. No moneys from me or my wifes emplyment may be contributed to the total. (Meaning if I am four cents short of buying a stamp I would have to generate four cents a diferent way than taking a nickle outta my pocket!!!)

2. Anything I own at this very moment is fair game. (Meaning I can sell things I own to contribute to this, but i cannot take other money besides whats in the fund to go and purchase things with the sole purpose to resell it for this experiment)

3. I cannot borrow from or against the money in this fund.

4. All money found in the house (ie: couch cushions, washing machine, etc.) must be split evenly between this fund and my sons piggy bank :)

Every story has a begining...

My couch cushions stick out. I own a large sectional couch with eight rather large pillows. If at any point in time someone sits on my couch for more than a few minutes, the pillows force their way towards the back and...my couch cushions stick out. I do not know why I am so anal about these cushions. I do not know why it makes me cringe when I see this. I do know three or four times a day I find myself lifting large pillows and knocking cushions back into place with my knee to remedy it.

It was during one of these adjustments my gaze caught a silver sparkle. I lifted the couch cushion to discover a treasure trove of couch coins waiting for the brave and bold man who would rescue them from their dark hiding place.

One dollar. In the form of three quarters, two dimes, and one nickle.

I consider myself fairly inteligent. An ok business sense and the like. So what I've decided to do is take this one dollar and attempt to turn it into one million!!! I've laid out a set of rules for myself and I've decided to share with everyone each and every step I take to achieve this goal.

Sounds impossible??? We'll see!
